Cummins ISL 350 Engine
Cummins Inc. introduces a new 350-horsepower rating for its ISL engine, aimed at the 4x2 short-haul truck market. The new rating, with 1050 lb-ft of torque, has been developed in conjunction with Allison Transmission to optimize the engine/drivetrain package and deliver substantial weight savings for increased productivity. "The combination of the Cummins ISL 350 and the smooth-running Allison MD3066 automatic transmission delivers weight savings up to 800 lb. -- which is less than any competitive package for this market," said Cummins Director of Specialty Markets, Chuck Goode. The ISL is a fully electronic in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine capable of providing ample power and excellent fuel economy, as well as electronics that make servicing the engine easy.
