Rack-and-pinion Steering

Freightliner Trucks announced that it would be the first North American heavy-duty truck manufacturer to offer rack and pinion steering as an option. The new system will be available on the Freightliner Century Class S/T, Coronado , Columbia , Classic and Classic XL models later this year. Rack and pinion steering is lighter and has fewer moving parts than the steering gear on most heavy-duty trucks, and provides greater control and responsiveness.
